When it comes to home design, scents play an essential part in triggering emotions and creating ambiences. However, smell often tends to be an overlooked sense when enhancing a space, when it should be indulged as much as vision, hearing and touch.
Hédoniste Paris’ founder Nina, a professional interior designer, learned it the hard way when she suffered an ocular infection that left her with permanent damage to her left eye vision. As a consequence, she found herself relying more on her sense of smell than before and quickly developed a passion for scents. As she was setting out on a mission to incorporate scents to her designs through the creation of a palette of home fragrance products, she decided to implement braille writing into her designs to offer greater accessibility to the visually impaired. As she was working on that particular part of the lineup's designs, she had to go through an even more severe eye reinfection. Although this episode temporarily suspended the journey as she had to undergo extensive medical treatment, it eventually intensified the conviction and passion within her that started it all.
